Fire Truck.
Sit up and enjoy a ride in a real fire truck and sing along with the driver!
We have an authentic Fire Engine at Ki Ora. It has been customised to allow for Wheelchair access and is one of the most popular attractions on the farm. Families can sing along to the popular short tunes while the truck takes a spin down through our newly planted forest.
The faces of the children light up (excuse the pun) when we switch on the sirens and they get into the spirit of the trip.
The Maze.
Open Farm for Kids
At the heart of the farm is of course the animals and with a great selection to choose from, there is always a favourite for everyone. As well as the every day farm animals such as cows, sheep, pigs etc we have some of the more exotic such as llamas, alpacas and emus. We have some amazing animal characters at the farm, from Geoffrey our Macaw, Charlie our Donkey to Posh & Becks the black swans & Missy & Mister the Polish Bantams.
Everyone has their own favourite!!!
There is always someone on hand to welcome visitors to the shed and to hand out small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. Supervised handling is for the safety of the animals and our visitors.
Did you know that feeding of the larger animals including bottle feeding of any goats or lambs occur at regular intervals at the farm depending on the time of year. Listen out for announcements or ask a staff member for further details.
Mini Diggers.
Why not come operate our real mini diggers? These are a huge family favourite and a real treat for kids and adults who want to experience the digging, scooping and lifting of sand in our purpose built mini digger pit.Designed to be safe and educational, they encourage hand to eye coordination in a fun and exciting way.
Go- Karts / Pedal Karts.
Loved by teenagers and the parents too!
We have tried to create an activity at our open farm that can interest and give fun and enjoyment to the older children. The pedal Go Karts have done just that. With various types of karts it means now Mum & Dad can get involved too especially with our unique family karts. The karts are now on a gravel track with lots of space for all the family to enjoy.
The teenagers who come to the farm can now participate and enjoy racing the “auld ones!” so its fun for the entire family.
Milking Cow.
Education on where our produce comes from is extremely important and you would be surprised how many children answer that milk comes from a Supermarket.
Our milking cow is a life sized milking cow with and udders and teats. The cow’s teats are rubber and allow the children to milk the cow into a milk bucket safely. Its a real treat for kids who learn a little bit about farm life and with some of our “big kids”.
