Piscari-Fly. Flyfishing Store. Co. Kilkenny
Peter Driver, is the Chairman of APGAI Ireland, a qualified casting instructor, and an
advanced, full-time professional fly dresser. Based in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, Peter runs
Piscari-Fly, a business dedicated to everything fly fishing — from coaching and guiding to
fly tying, casting instruction, and specialist retail.
At Piscari-Fly, Peter provides personalized fishing experiences for anglers of all levels.
Whether it’s one-on-one coaching, casting lessons, or a guided day on the water, his focus is
always on helping people develop their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the sport. The
business also sells day tickets for the River Nore, giving visitors access to one of Ireland’s
most beautiful and productive trout and salmon rivers, right in the heart of Kilkenny.
Alongside his fly tying and guiding work, Peter has also turned his hand to product design,
creating his own range of high-quality fly fishing gear. His Venator rods are built to his
exact specifications — crafted for accuracy, strength, and feel — reflecting his deep
understanding of what anglers need on the water.
Beyond guiding and instruction, Piscari-Fly has become a hub for the fly fishing community
— offering premium fly tying materials, custom flies, and expert advice, alongside an ever-
growing collection of educational videos, blogs, and online resources.
Over the last 20 years, Peter has represented and captained Team Ireland in numerous World
and European Fly Fishing Championships, earning national river and lake titles and countless
top finishes in competitions across Ireland and Europe.
His deep knowledge of techniques, such as nymphing, dry fly, and streamer fishing comes from decades of experience, both at
home and abroad, learning from some of the best anglers in the world.
As Peter says, “It’s through travelling and learning from others that I’ve developed a broad
understanding of fly fishing — knowledge I love to share with others who are equally
passionate about the sport.”
The Craft Behind the Wood.
In addition to his fishing work, Peter has recently expanded Piscari-Fly into a line of
handcrafted wooden products, inspired by years of tying and working at his own fly desk.
“Over the years, I’ve been asked many times about my own fly tying desk and some of the
bits and pieces I use — bobbin holders, fly displays, and little wooden stands for keeping
things tidy. After a lot of encouragement, I’ve decided to branch out and start making these
items properly.”
Each piece is handmade in Peter’s workshop using reclaimed and locally sourced hardwoods
— giving new life to beautiful old timber and celebrating its natural warmth and character.
The collection includes fly displays, thread bobbin holders, fly tying stations, desks, and even
resin river tables. Every piece is unique, built to last, and made to be both practical and
beautiful for any angler’s workspace or home.
